CHAPTER 28
It was next to impossible, but Samantha somehow managed not to face her enemy for four days.
She avoided going to the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch. When Rishi asked her about it, she gave the excuse of her workload, but being the perceptive nuisance he was, there was a knowing smile on Rishiâs ridiculously handsome face.
She wasnât willing to discuss her enemy or what had happened between them with anyone. Not even to herself.
But towards the end of each day when she slipped into her bed and closed her eyes, her enemy haunted her. His deep voice whispered into her ear with things she would have thought were impossible before he had touched her.
Taking in a shuddering breath, she pushed away her forbidden thoughts. Luckily, the pending assignments and the rest of her classes and training took up most of her time.
âHello, Samantha.â
Samantha looked up. She was just done with practice and was packing up her tennis racket. âHello, Coach.â
The coach smiled. âAre you all set for the games next week?â
âYes, Coach.â
âGood. I suggested your name to the dean for the Outreach Program you were interested in. I think she will agree. You should receive an email from the deanâs office soon.â
She nodded. âThank you, Coach.â
The coach smiled. âYou are welcome. See you at practice tomorrow.â
Picking up her sports bag, she waved at the rest of the team before heading back to her housing unit.
She took a quick shower and went into the kitchen to look in her refrigerator. Despite the long practice, she wasnât too tired. She wanted to make a quick meal to relax her racing mind.
Forty minutes later, she was done cooking the pasta dish and turned off the stove. Just then, the apartment door opened.
âI made chicken pasta. Grab a plate.â she said.
âSure,â the deep voice replied.
She nearly jumped in shock hearing her enemyâs voice. Turning, she saw that her enemy was standing in her living room. Her heart began racing in excitement, which pissed her off.
He took off his helmet and held it in his hand. His hair was messier than usual and looked damp with sweat. He must have returned from a bike ride. Seeing his handsome, chiseled face with a devilish smirk made her want to slap him and kiss him at the same time.
âGet out,â she snapped.
âThatâs rude,â he said, making an exaggerated pout that looked ridiculous on his chiseled, masculine face.
Ignoring her fluttering stomach, she went to the small dining table. Picking up her phone and dialed a number. She set it on speaker phone so her enemy could listen.
âHi, Iâm calling from unit 369. A guy just broke into my apartment.â
She looked at him with a glare, so he would start to walk away and leave her apartment. But her enemy remained as did his smirk.
âWho is the guy?â the senior girl in charge of the housing unit asked.
She stared at her enemy, warning him once again. But he didnât budge, and neither was the smirk gone from his face.
